In serious tones he said that he came to GLH to study. “Social Studies, Tamil, Mathematics, English…” he rattled off, in response to my query on his favorite subject, grinning all the while. He says he knows very little Sinhalese and very basic English, but is keen to improve.
With his mates Osama and Husni he plays Cricket and badminton in the home, spending the rest of his free time reading. He smiled, genuinely happy, nodding away, when I asked him if he liked the Home.
He plans to study well, and grow up. He wishes to be a Pilot he tells me, giving his signature grin, leaving me with a pleasant photograph.
